Ingredients

1 package strawberry cake mix

1 and 1/2 quarts fresh strawberries

1/4 cup sugar

1 and 1/2 cups whipping cream

1/4 cup powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions

To make this strawberry cake, start by making the cake according to the package directions. Pour the divided batter into two greased and floured pans. Cool completely on wire racks so moisture does not form on the bottom of the cakes, as a result, The wire racks allow air to circulate under the pans. Reserve about 8 strawberries for garnish. Slice the remaining strawberries, and sprinkle with the white sugar in a bowl. Mash slightly. In a separate bowl, beat the whipping cream on high until it peaks. Add the powdered sugar and vanilla.
