Jello Pie recipe

This quick and easy dessert is a summertime favorite. This recipe only uses two ingredients. If you can make jello…you can make Jello Pie!

Jell-O is an American brand offering a variety of powdered gelatin desserts (fruit-flavored gels/jellies), pudding, and no-bake cream pie mixes. The original gelatin dessert (genericized as jello) is the brand’s signature. “Jell-O” is a registered trademark of Kraft Heinz, based in Chicago, Illinois.

The dessert was especially popular in the first half of the 20th century, remaining popular in certain demographics. The original gelatin dessert began in Le Roy, New York, in 1897, when Pearle Bixby Wait trademarked the name Jell-O. He and his wife May had made the product by adding strawberry, raspberry, orange, and lemon flavoring to sugar and granulated gelatin (which had been patented in 1845). The powder is mixed with boiling water and then cooled to produce a gel. (Wikipedia)

Ingredients

2/3 cup boiling water

1 package gelatin dessert, 4 serving size, I used strawberry, but use your favorite flavor

1/2 cup cold water

ice cubes

1 tub whipped topping, 8 ounces, thawed

1 graham cracker pie crust, 6 ounce

Directions

To effortlessly make this Jello Pie, start by stirring the boiling water into the gelatin in a large bowl for about 2 minutes until well dissolved. Mix the cold water and ice to measure one cup. Add to gelatin stirring until ice is melted. Stir in whipped topping with a wire whisk until smooth.

Refrigerate for 20 minutes, or until the mixture is very thick and will mound. Spoon into ready-made pie crust. Refrigerate for 4 hours, or overnight. Enjoy!
